Settling in
I couldn’t sleep so bravely stepped out of my room for the first time around dawn and peeped into the little garden across the corridor -there was a tiny finch in the tree singing its little heart out 💛 Breakfast review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆A definite improvement on yesterday: no unwanted sugar thrown on the cornflakes, and a…

We have plan…
The oncologist has been to see me. It looks like I’ll be here for at least another couple of days while they continue treatment, then they’ll review my chemo plan and tweak it as needed. I’m still waiting for the C.diff test results, which also means they can’t give me anything for the stomach cramps…

Well, here we are…
I survived another night, so things are looking up IMHO😀 The upset stomach continues, so I’m back on a drip for fluids. I’ve also developed a skin rash, and my chest has now been “Sharpied” with what looks like a pirate treasure map. 🫣 The doctor will be round later to review everything, but all…

First chemo + 1: The fear was worse than the needle
The day after my first chemo session was, surprisingly, not too bad. I felt OK throughout the day and was able to do most things as normal, which felt like a small victory. I knew the treatment effects might not appear immediately, so I was cautiously optimistic – but also aware that I was still…

First chemo: Almost uneventful (and that’s a good thing)
My first chemotherapy session was, thankfully, almost uneventful – which, in this situation, is exactly what you hope for. The staff were lovely and guided me through the process. I started with an injection into my left thigh, followed by an attempt to insert a cannula into my left arm. Unfortunately, that one didn’t cooperate,…
